44 years ago, on 7 October 1975, the Minister of Electricity and Coal signed Decision No. 1867/QĐ-TCCB-3 establishing Central Power Company, the predecessor of Central Power Corporation. Based on that, EVNCPC Board of Management chose October 7th to be annual traditional day. This is also an opportunity for all staffs to review EVNCPC’s proudly milestones developing through many difficulties.

In 1981, The Ministry of Electricity issued Decision No. 15/DL-TCCB-3 on 09 May 1981 renaming Central Power Company to Power Company 3.

In 1993, Power Company 3 was re-established by the Government under Decision No. 148/TTg, a direct dependent under the Ministry of Energy. In this period, Power company 3 had brought a great contribution led to great impressive results. The system of power source, power line, other infrastructure have been upgraded and expanded to meet the basic requirement for socio-economic development, national defense and security, became an important motivation resource for the development of Central Region and Highlands.
In 1995, Vietnam Electricity Corporation was established, Electricity Power 3 as well as its affiliates were transferred to Vietnam Electricity Corporation from the Ministry of Energy. In 1997, Quang Nam – Da Nang province was separated to Quang Nam province and Da Nang city. In 2004, Dak Nong province was established from Dak Lak’s separation. Some units became Joint stock Companies in which Khanh Hoa PowerJSC and Central Electro- Mechanical JSC were managed directly by Vietnam Electricity Corporation. In 2006, Vietnam Electricity Group was established, Da Nang Power Company was separated to become Da Nang Power One Member Limited Company. By the end of 2008, Power Company 3 had 18 directed units, including 11 Power companies, 3 centers, 2 project management boards, 1 high voltage power enterprise, 1 Sanatorium institute and company office.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 739/QD-BCT on 5/2/2010 establishing the Parent Company – Central Power Corperation on the basis of changing Power Company 3 operation model and taking back Da Nang Power One Member Limited Liability Company, Khanh Hoa Power JSC. Hence, Central Power Corperation has 21 affiliated companies, in which: 18 companies and affiliated members including power companies: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak and Dak Nong, Central grid company, Central Power Construction Consulting company, Central Electrical Testing company, Central Power Telecom and Information Technology company, Central Network Project management unit, Central Rural Electricity Project Management board, Central Power Sanatorium Center, 3 subsidiaries with 50% capital was held by CPC: Da Nang Power One Member Limited Company, Khanh Hoa Power JSC, Power Investment JSC 3. Other than that, the associated companies which CPC held less than 50% capital: Gia Lai hydroelectric JSC, Binh Dinh hydroelectric JSC, Central Hydropower JSC, Hydroelectric Power 3 JSC, Song Ba JSC, Central Power Investment and Development JSC.

Currently, EVNCPC’s management structure includes: Member Council, Executive Board (General Director and Deputy General Director), Supervisor, Chief Accountant and Assisting Apparatus: 17 functional departments, 19 Power Companies and affiliates: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Central Power Service Company, Central Power Information Technology Company, Central Network Project Management Unit, Central Rural Electricity Project Management Board, Central Power Customer Care Center, Central Power Electrical Mechanical Engineering Company, Central Electric Power College, Central Power Engineering Consulting Company, 4 subsidiaries with 50% capital was held by CPC: Da Nang Power One Member Limited Company, Khanh Hoa Power JSC, Power Investment JSC 3 and Central Electrical Testing Company. 8 associated companies which CPC held less than 50% capital: Gia Gia Lai hydroelectric JSC, Binh Dinh hydroelectric JSC, Central Hydropower JSC, Hydroelectric Power 3 JSC, Song Ba JSC, Central Power Investment and Development JSC, A Vuong hydropower plant JSC, Song Ba Ha hydropower plant JSC.

EVNCPC always pay attention to STEM application, new technology into production. EVNCPC has applied technology for repairing electric equipment and grid (hotline repair) and completed 2 years earlier than assigned task from EVN: operating remote control center for 110kV grid at 13/13 Power Companies. EVNCPC has researched and produced electronic meter successfully as well as developed modern metering technologies. The RF-MESH system helps to obtain readings remotely from electronic meters by using mesh-style (RF-SPIDER), being applied at Power Companies. Furthermore, EVNCPC has successfully established electric vehicle charging station, a step in promoting renewable energy application, joining hands for environment protection.
In parallel with production implementation, EVNCPC from headquarter to its affiliates, subsidiaries and members have performed their gratitude to social contribution. In 2019, EVNCPC has handed over 65 gratitude houses for 13 provinces, cities in Central Regions and Highlands; collaborated with many local press agencies donated 4 rooftop solar projects for 4 schools in Quang Binh, Quang Nam and Dak Nong provinces… and many other activities from Youth Group and Labor Union of EVNCPC.

The development of EVNCPC has contributed greatly to the socio-economic change and the lives of the residence in the area.
