Press release: EVN proposes policies to support electricity payment for hospitals, clinics and centralized quarantine facilities for COVID-19

In March 2020, under the drastic guidance of the Political Bureau, the Secretariat, the Government and the Prime Minister as well as the cooperation of the political system, the enterprises and the people throughout the country, the prevention and control of COVID-19 has continued to be widely implemented. So far, we have been controlling the disease and are highly appreciated by the international community, the people of the whole country believe in the leadership of the Party and the Government. At the present time, the situation of the epidemic is still complicated and unpredictable in the whole world, the number of infected people and deaths increases rapidly and there is no sign of stopping.

After the issuance of Resolution No. 36-NQ/DU dated March 30th, 2020 by Standing Committee of Vietnam Electricity’s Party Committee concerning urgent solutions to reduce difficulties for the production and business, ensuring the social security in response to COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) proposed to the Government to support 100% of electricity bills for medical treatment facilities and centralized quarantine facilities for suspected COVID-19 cases. At the same time, EVN also proposed to support 50% of electricity bills for several other medical examination and treatment facilities, in which the examination, testing, treating infected patients or suspected patients are not the main functions of the facilities.

Regarding the application period of the assistance policy, EVN proposes that electricity invoices for the power consumed in April, May and June 2020 will be applied.

According to preliminary statistics, besides the specified hospitals and health facilities that treat people infected with COVID-19, there are thousands of centralized quarantine facilities including hospitals and clinics, military barracks, police, schools, hotels, dormitories, etc.
